Manage a team of 8 system administrators who provide support for 250 physical and virtual servers
for a variety of campus projects.
- Central Computng Services (2000-2004): Project Manager
for CalNetAD, Berkeley's
implementation of Microsoft's Acitve Directory; technical support
for UC Berkeley Home Page,
LDAP directory services, CalNET
ID system, and Apache Web server. Developed and implemented UC
Berkeley Home Page search
engine. Implemented UC
Berkeley Emergency Page.
- Museum Informatics Project (1996-2000): Project Manager
for MIP. Provided technical
support to the Museum
of Invertebrate Zoology and UC
Botanical Garden. Worked on general purpose database solutions
for collection management. Collaborated on the development of
Relational
Data Structures for Implementing Thesauri.
- Data Communication and Network Services (1993 to 1996):
- Community Profile Dataset: Developed the CPD, a canonical
dataset of faculty, staff, and students at UC Berkeley that
was the precursor to the CalNetID project.
- Human Name Service: Developed a variety of Internet white
pages directory services for U.C. Berkeley which utilize the
data contained in the CPD. Implemented directory services for
protocols such as finger, whois, and the World-Wide Web.
- UC Berkeley Home Page: Prototyped and implemented original
version of the UC Berkeley Home Page. Provided technical support
for the UC Berkeley Home Page.
- Network Resource Registry: Designed and implemented the NRR
dataset in Sybase to maintain information on WWW servers listed
on the UC Berkeley Home Page. This was the precursor for the
present search engine.
- Sybase Database Administrator: Installed, and supported System
10 on a Sun SPARCserver 10.
- Workstation Support Services (1981 to 1993): Developed
and implemented several multi-user, on-line administrative application
systems.
- Student Health Service (1974 to 1981): Assistant Administrator,
Student Services (medical records, patient registration, patient
information, clinical statistics, and patient billing).
